JOB SUMMARY:
Assists General Manager/Chief Engineer in providing effective, efficient, and professional engineering as required to comply with assignments, goals, and objective of the Drainage District. Participates in planning of programs, policies or objectives for own work group, department, other work groups, and departments

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Corresponds with the public regarding projects and/or general information. Reviews designs and calculations submitted by outside engineering consultants. Develops studies and reports; designs structures and projects. Supervises activities of project construction. Investigates and studies drainage complaints and responds as necessary. Negotiates and acquires rights of way/easements. Directs staff in completion of assignments. Inputs in planning future objectives of Drainage District. Inputs in annual budget planning. Collects fees and makes change. Tracks or monitors budget expenditures as part of budget. Assists and/or instructs others with their duties. Reviews work of other employees. Assigns duties and plans work of others. Conducts work/performance reviews. Recommends and/or approves selecting new employees, employee transfers/ promotions, disciplining/discharging, and salary increases.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.8 years job related experience, of which 4 in a supervisory capacity; or Registered Professional Engineer with 2 years supervisory experience. Background in hydrology and hydraulics required. Strong computer skills; verbal and written communication, management, supervisory, and organizational skills; interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials; ability to complete assignments in a timely manner.

Understanding and analyzing HECHMS and HECRAS modeling. Valid Texas Driver’s License.
