PHYSICAL EXERTION

 

Maximum exertion of up to 20 pounds.  Requires frequent walking on rough and uneven surfaces or ground such as sloping terrain, plowed or furrowed areas or construction sites.  Requires frequent driving of a vehicle with automatic controls.  Requires frequent operation of equipment such as data entry device, photocopier, telephone, facsimile, digital camera and calculator.  Requires frequent sorting, filing, shelving and otherwise handling of documents or books, file drawers, and related materials and equipment.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE

 

Normal office environment while indoors with acceptable lighting, temperature and climate controlled air conditions.  Extensive use of a video display terminal.  Routine exposure to fluids, compounds and/or chemicals used for photographic or photocopier development or reproduction.  May be exposed to fluids, compounds and/or chemicals used in cleaning offices and/or work areas. 

 

Routine exposure to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture, and air pollution when outdoors.  Exposure to vibration and/or noise in excess of 85 decibels.  Routine exposure to nature’s dust, mists, vapors, fumes and other pollutants, toxic plants such as poison ivy, poison oak, and other vegetation that may contain/emit allergens or other pollen compounds.  May be exposed to wasps, bees and other flying/walking insects, aquatic bacteria, viruses, and other micro-organisms.

 

 

Harris County Flood Control District has an immediate opening for a DESIGN ENGINEER.  If you are a college graduate with a degree in Civil Engineering, including curriculum in hydraulics, channel flow and geotechnical issues and possess an E.I.T. certification, we can offer you the opportunity to put your skills to work in a professional, dynamic work environment.

 

The successful applicant will be proficient in Microsoft applications, especially Excel, and have knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS systems and construction specifications.
