The David Bernsen Endowed Scholarship

in Civil Engineering

 

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Named endowments may be established in the Lamar University Foundation, Inc. with minimum contributions of $10,000. All principal (corpus) of said endowment will be maintained intact in perpetuity and only earnings from the principal (corpus), in compliance with the Foundation's Adopted Spending Policy, will be budgeted and expended as directed by the donor(s) in paragraphs II through X.

Unless otherwise specified by the donor(s), all endowment resources will be pooled and invested in accordance with the Foundation's adopted Investment Policy. Each endowed account shall receive its proportional share of total portfolio earnings, calculated on a monthly basis.

BACKGROUND:

In the past six years, David Bernsen has given unlimited time and energy to the service of Southeast Texas. This scholarship endowment is being established by many friends of David Bernsen to Honor him for the excellent leadership he has provided and to express appreciation for a job well done.

RECIPIENT TO BE SELECTED BY:

A scholarship committee appointed by the Dean of the College of Engineering.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

(1) Major/Degree - The recipient must be pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering.

(2) Overall/Major GPA - Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 for continuing students.

(3) Class Level - Open to all class levels.

(4) Class Load Requirements - Full-time student.

(5) Other Qualifying Criteria - Recipient must meet all admission requirements of the University.
