Transfer Student Guides
|
Undergraduate students who attend or have attended
another college or university wishing to attend Lamar University
should visit
LU's General Transfer Page. LU's Transfer
Policies can be found in several sections of the Course Catalog following Admission Requirements for College Transfers.
To
receive a CM degree from Lamar, the CM degree plan must
be completed.
Please note the following:
- Please direct all questions concerning degree specific requirements, and
applicable transfer credits, directly to the CM Program Office,
(409) 880‑7558.
- Please direct all questions concerning general
transfer credit evaluation to the Office of
Admissions. Transfer students must be aware of
LU's Transfer policies, at two Web locations: (a)
General Transfers and (b)
Admission Requirements for College Transfers.
- Although Lamar University transfers the core curriculum en bloc
(core complete)
from other Texas public institutions, the CM
Program specifies the
LU approved core courses that must be taken to be degree complete.
Recommendations in this Guide satisfy LU's Core requirements
with courses
also required in the CM Program. Transfer
students must be aware of
LU's Core Curriculum Transfer Policy.

Notes:
Generally, there exists two broad classifications of
college-level courses defined in the State of Texas:
"Academic Courses" are those designated by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board
for transfer among all colleges AND universities as freshman and sophomore general education courses.
The CM Program at Lamar transfers the types of
courses when there are appropriately matching
courses in the CM degree program.
"Workforce" or "Technology" Courses are those designated by the Texas Higher Education
Coordinating Board as workforce education (technical) courses offered for
credit and CEUs (Continuing Education Units). While these courses are
designed to transfer among state community colleges, they are NOT designed to
automatically transfer to public four-year colleges and universities.
The CM Program will consider transfering these courses on a course-by-course basis,
and will often require an Advanced Placement
Examination.
